Passports
If your child is aged 16-17 years, they must attend the interview with the lodging parent(s) and will be issued a 10-year validity passport.
To apply for an Australian passport for your child, at least one parent must bring the following original documents to the appointment:
− Completed Overseas Passport Application form
If the child was born in Australia
− Full Australian birth certificate
If the child was born outside Australia
− Australian citizenship certificate
and
− Foreign birth certificate
If the certificate was not issued in English, an English translation must also be provided. The translation must be done by the issuing authority, one of the Embassy’s accredited translation offices (list attached).
− Current passport of the lodging parent(s) plus ID that shows their current address.
-At least two recent photos that comply with the photograph requirements (https://www.passports.gov.au/getting-passport-how-it-works/photo-requirements).

Please note:
- In case your name on your child's birth certificate is not the same as your name on your current ID, you will need to present a proof of name change. Should you have no official document to support your name discrepancy, you will be required to provide a written declaration explaining the reason for the discrepancy. The declaration is to be made on Form B11 (available at the following link: https://www.passports.gov.au/forms/Pages/default.aspx.
- Consent forms are available at the Embassy. If you would like to fill out the form before attending the Embassy, please request a blank form by email (consular.cairo@dfat.gov.au).

− If you were born in Australia on/after 20/08/1986 and were not issued with an Australian citizenship certificate, you need to provide one of the following documents as proof of citizenship:
o Your Australian passport issued on/after 01/01/2000 with at least 2 years
validity
o One parent's full Australian birth certificate (parent born prior to 20/08/1986)
o One parent's Australian passport (issued on/after 20/08/1986, with a minimum of 2 years validity and valid at the time of your birth)
o One parent's Australian citizenship certificate (issued prior to your birth)
Current IDs that include your photo and current residential address.
For example, “Australian/foreign driver’s license, Foreign residency ID card, Australian Proof of ID card.
Plus, one of the following valid documents:
− Medicare card.
− Credit/Bank card
− Foreign passport
− National Insurance card

o If a parents name on his/her current passport differs from his/her name on the child’s birth certificate, and there is no official document to support the discrepancy in the name (i.e. a marriage certificate or a change of name certificate), the parent will need to complete and sign the attached declaration form (B11) in order to explain the reason for the discrepancy.

Information for lost passports
To report lost/stolen passport to the Australian authorities, please contact your nearest Australian Mission/Consulate.
Complete B11 General Declaration form (available on the Embassy’s passport web page) in which you can outline the circumstance of how and when the passport was lost/ stolen/damaged.
A police report from the local authority (if possible) with English translation (for stolen passports only).

Guide for a child renewal passport application (PC8):
1. Complete the application form (PC8) online
• The application must be lodged within six months of completion.
2. Photos
• Include minimum two passport photos, less than six months old. Refer to photo guidelines for more information.
• The back of one photo must be endorsed by the child’s guarantor, writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signed in black pen.
• DO NOT attach the photos to the form as this may damage them
3. Parents proof of identity
• Copies of both parents’ identity documents that show their name, photo, signature and current address (i.e., both parents or those with parental responsibility for the child who signed section 17 on the application form).
o Name changes: If the current names of either parent are different to how they appear on the child’s birth certificate, please include certified documents that explain the change of name.
4. Print the application form
• Print the child renewal application on plain white A4 paper, using blank ink only. Make
sure, the form has been printed in full and isn't cut off at the top or bottom of the page.
• US standard letter paper or US legal paper sizes are also acceptable, but only if they’re
scaled properly. Refer to more information on printing your application form.
5. Signing the application form
• Sign the form using black pen, within the signature box. Make sure there are no alterations or whiteout on the signature or the date.
• Children 10 years or older must provide a signature unless there is a medical reason or disability that prevents them from signing.
6. Guarantor
• A guarantor must sign section 11 of the application form. Remember the guarantor must also endorse the back of a passport photo by writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signing in black pen. Notarial Services
Authentication is when we verify a signature, stamp or seal on a document. Once verified, we stamp and sign the original document confirming that we have verified the signature or seal on the document.
We may only authenticate Australian public documents. Accordingly, if your document is not issued by an Australian Government authority (e.g. Births, Deaths and Marriages), you will need to have it notarised by an Australian notary public in order for us to be able to authenticate the document. You can locate a notary public through the website: www.notarylocator.com.au.
Education documents: All documents issued by educational institutes in Australia must meet certain criteria so we may authenticate them. Please refer to the following link for full information: http://smartraveller.gov.au/services/legalising-documents/Pages/default.aspx.

Civil marriage involving a non-Egyptian party is conducted at the Foreigners' Marriage Office at the Ministry of Justice. One of the requirements is presenting a CNI issued by the Embassy in Cairo.
The Foreigners' Marriage Office requires further information that is no included in the CNI; accordingly, the applicant signs a Statutory Declaration including the required information and the Embassy issues a letter based on the applicant's declaration.
Please note that under Sharia Law, a divorced female can only remarry after 3 months have passed from the date of her divorce. The date of the divorce is the latest date stated in an Australian divorce certificate (i.e. when the divorce became absolute).
