Adult Passport Renewal

Group Booking (2 passport applications)

To apply for an Australian passport for your child, at least one parent must bring the following original documents to the appointment:
Completed Overseas Passport Application form
o	It can be completed on the passports website and printed out. Alternatively, blank forms are available at the Embassy.

If the child was born in Australia
	Full Australian birth certificate
and
	One of the following documents as proof of the child’s citizenship:
o	The child’s Australian passport issued on/after 01/01/2000 with at least 2 years validity
o	One parent's full Australian birth certificate (parent born prior to 20/08/1986)
o	One parent's Australian passport (issued on/after 20/08/1986, with a minimum of 2 years validity and valid at the time of the child’s birth)
o	One parent's Australian citizenship certificate (issued prior to the child’s birth)

If the child was born outside Australia
	Australian citizenship certificate
and
	Foreign birth certificate
o	If the certificate was not issued in English, an English translation must also be provided. The translation must be done by the issuing authority, one of the Embassy’s accredited translation offices (list attached) or a NAATI accredited translator.

	Current passport of the lodging parent(s) plus ID that shows their current address
	At least four recent photos that comply with the photograph requirements.

o	The guarantor must sign the back of one of your photos after writing “This is a true photo of ‘applicant’s full name’”. Guarantor requirements are attached.
	The child’s previous passport (if applicable)

	Evidence of change of name of child and/or parent(s) (if applicable)

o	If a parents name on his/her current passport differs from his/her name on the child’s birth certificate, and there is no official document to support the discrepancy in the name (i.e. a marriage certificate or a change of name certificate), the parent will need to complete and sign the attached declaration form (B11) in order to explain the reason for the discrepancy.

Information for lost passports

To report lost/stolen passport to the Australian authorities, please contact your nearest Australian Mission/Consulate.
	Complete B11 General Declaration form (available on the Embassy’s passport web page) in which you can outline the circumstance of how and when the passport was lost/ stolen/damaged.
	A police report from the local authority (if possible) with English translation (for stolen passports only).

If your child is aged 16-17 years, they must attend the interview with the lodging parent(s) and will be issued a 10 year validity passport.
Important notes:

		Passport application page should be clear and show all page parts/information (application with missing information/part/s will be rejected)


	Please do not staple or tape the photos to the application. Please ensure enough space around the face for cropping purposes.

	Final acceptance of photos provided will be determined after scanning.

Guide for a child renewal passport application (PC8):
1. Complete the application form (PC8) online
• The application must be lodged within six months of completion.
2. Photos
• Include minimum two passport photos, less than six months old. Refer to photo guidelines for more information.
• The back of one photo must be endorsed by the child’s guarantor, writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signed in black pen.
• DO NOT attach the photos to the form as this may damage them
3. Parents proof of identity
• Copies of both parents’ identity documents that show their name, photo, signature and current address (i.e., both parents or those with parental responsibility for the child who signed section 17 on the application form). 
o Name changes: If the current names of either parent are different to how they appear on the child’s birth certificate, please include certified documents that explain the change of name.
4. Print the application form
• Print the child renewal application on plain white A4 paper, using blank ink only. Make
sure, the form has been printed in full and isn't cut off at the top or bottom of the page.
• US standard letter paper or US legal paper sizes are also acceptable, but only if they’re
scaled properly. Refer to more information on printing your application form.
5. Signing the application form
• Sign the form using black pen, within the signature box. Make sure there are no alterations or whiteout on the signature or the date.
• Children 10 years or older must provide a signature unless there is a medical reason or disability that prevents them from signing.
6. Guarantor
• A guarantor must sign section 11 of the application form. Remember the guarantor must also endorse the back of a passport photo by writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signing in black pen. Refer to https://www.passports.gov.au for more information on guarantor requirements.
7. Consent
• Parental Consent is required for a child passport. Everyone who’s giving consent must sign section 15 of the form in front of a witness.

Child Passport Renewal

First Adult Passport:
To apply for an Australian passport, you must bring the following original documents to your appointment:
− Completed Overseas Passport Application form. It can be completed on the passport's website www.passports.gov.au and printed out.
− Australian citizenship certificate (if applicable)
− Full birth certificate
o If the certificate was not issued in English, an English translation must also be provided. The translation must be done by the issuing authority, one of the Embassy’s accredited translation offices (list attached) or a NAATI accredited translator.
− If you were born in Australia on/after 20/08/1986 and were not issued with an Australian citizenship certificate, you need to provide one of the following documents as proof of citizenship:
o Your Australian passport issued on/after 01/01/2000 with at least 2 years
validity
o One parent's full Australian birth certificate (parent born prior to 20/08/1986)
o One parent's Australian passport (issued on/after 20/08/1986, with a minimum of 2 years validity and valid at the time of your birth)
o One parent's Australian citizenship certificate (issued prior to your birth)
Current IDs that include your photo and current residential address. 
For example, “Australian/foreign driver’s license, Foreign residency ID card, Australian Proof of ID card. 
 Plus, one of the following valid documents:
− Medicare card.
− Credit/Bank card
− Foreign passport
− National Insurance card

Group Booking (4 passport applications)

- Please provide your own details when booking the appointment. 
- To lodge your consent for your child to be issued with an Australian passport/travel document, you will need to present your valid photo ID. 
- The following information must be provided on the consent form: 
(1) Your child's full name as registered on his/her Australian Birth Certificate, Citizenship Certificate or Change of Name Certificate
(2) Your name as registered on your child's birth certificate
Please note:
- In case your name on your child's birth certificate is not the same as your name on your current ID, you will need to present a proof of name change. Should you have no official document to support your name discrepancy, you will be required to provide a written declaration explaining the reason for the discrepancy. The declaration is to be made on Form B11 (available at the following link: https://www.passports.gov.au/forms/Pages/default.aspx. 
- Consent forms are available at the Embassy. If you would like to fill out the form before attending the Embassy, please request a blank form by email (consular.cairo@dfat.gov.au). 
- Please note that you will need to advise us of the passport/post office or overseas post where the child's passport application is lodged. 
- No fees are charged for this service.

Lodging parental consent for a child's passport

Certification of Documents and Photographs (certified true copies)

Civil marriage involving a non-Egyptian party is conducted at the Foreigners' Marriage Office at the Ministry of Justice. One of the requirements is presenting a CNI issued by the Embassy in Cairo. 

The Foreigners' Marriage Office requires further information that is no included in the CNI; accordingly, the applicant signs a Statutory Declaration including the required information and the Embassy issues a letter based on the applicant's declaration. 

Please note that under Sharia Law, a divorced female can only remarry after 3 months have passed from the date of her divorce. The date of the divorce is the latest date stated in an Australian divorce certificate (i.e. when the divorce became absolute).

Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage (CNI)

Authentication is when we verify a signature, stamp or seal on a document. Once verified, we stamp and sign the original document confirming that we have verified the signature or seal on the document. 

We may only authenticate Australian public documents. Accordingly, if your document is not issued by an Australian Government authority (e.g. Births, Deaths and Marriages), you will need to have it notarised by an Australian notary public in order for us to be able to authenticate the document. You can locate a notary public through the website: www.notarylocator.com.au. 

Education documents: All documents issued by educational institutes in Australia must meet certain criteria so we may authenticate them. Please refer to the following link for full information: http://smartraveller.gov.au/services/legalising-documents/Pages/default.aspx. 

Foreign (i.e. non-Australian) documents must first be authenticated by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The Embassy does NOT authenticate translated documents unless issued by a translator accredited to the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) in Australia or authenticated by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Child Passport - Age 16/17

Documents we can witness
•Property transfers. Only for buying or selling property in Australia.
•Australian statutory declarations. Only for use in Australia. Learn more about statutory declarations (Attorney-General's Department)
•DFAT forms. This includes the Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage application form.
•Notices of intended marriage. Learn more about Australian marriage forms (Attorney-General's Department)
•Most federal government forms.
•Some state government forms and private sector forms. Ask the form's issuing authority if they accept consular officials as authorised witnesses.

We don't witness signatures on overseas documents. Ask local authorities who can witness for you. Or get legal advice.

Please bring your UNSIGNED form/declaration to the Embassy. You will be required to present your photo ID that bears your signature (i.e. passport or Australian driver's licence). In case you are unable to present a signed photo ID, you may present your photo ID that does not bear a signature (e.g. national ID card) in addition to a signed bank card issued in your name.
